Message	that "cheater" interface connector by hacking the factory OEM box inself rather than going the RadioShack breadboard route? Haven't look inside one -- but that would be my 1st choice to try since it would eliminate having to disassemble the pins and re-build a new one? Also great tip on soldering and shrink wrapping spade type connectors - much more time consuming but sigificantly more reliable than crimping, especially for mission critical things like this...
